Detection of mecA Gene among Staphylococcus aureus Isolated from Soil Sample of Poultry Farm

Summary:
This study investigated the presence of Staphylococcus aureus, including Methicillin-resistant S. aureus (MRSA), in soil samples of poultry farms of the Kathmandu Valley. Antibiotic resistance pattern of S. aureus was analysed. Molecular detection of the mecA gene was carried out. The research highlights the potential role of poultry farms as reservoirs for antimicrobial-resistant bacteria.
