Detection of Potential Infectious Microorganisms from Hospital and its Surrounding Municipal Waste

Summary:
This study aimed to analyse the microbial load, their distribution in the hospital and surrounding municipal wastes in Kathmandu Valley. During the study period, different specimens such as hospital wastes (gloves, sharp needles, syringes, swabs) and municipal wastes (sewage, fruit peels, wrappers) were used as samples. The isolates were identified and subjected to antimicrobial susceptibility testing (AST), production of ESBL and MRSA.
