Phytochemical Screening and Evaluation of Antimicrobial & Cytotoxic Activity of Lichens Collected from Phulchoki, Nepal

Summary of the project:
This study focused on the phytochemical analysis and evaluation of antimicrobial and cytotoxic activities of two lichen species, Parmotrema reticulatum and Everniastrum cirrhatum, collected from the forest area of Phulchoki, Nepal. Extracts were prepared using different solvents, including methanol, ethyl acetate, and chloroform. Antimicrobial activity was assessed against one gram-positive (S. aureus) and two gram-negative bacteria (K. pneumoniae and E. coli) using the agar well diffusion method, along with MIC and MBC determination. Phytochemical screening and MTT assays were also conducted following standard protocols.
